When you add someone on Orkut as friend the Gtalk takes them as their name. Annoying at time... The example which you gave is still quite decent. Just feel if someone puts up a actor pic and changes his name to "Love is in the air" and something similar, how can you recognize em? So it was a common practice of changing the name showing your status.
